Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern want to see some action in this transfer window and, according to Torino’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi speaking to Sky Italia (via Sky Sports,) they’re attempting just that.
The Gunners have been struggling of late in all competitions as they scraped past Preston last time out in the FA Cup and somehow salvaged a 3-3 draw at Bournemouth after being 3-0 down prior to that.
It’s a recent patch of form that’s seen our local Gunners cry out for some additions in this window and Torino forward Andrea Belotti could just be the man on their agenda.
The young Italian has continued to impress in Serie A after a break-through season last time out and according to Petrachi, the club have seen a bid offered for the striker by Arsenal – which they rejected. He said:
“We received and refused a €65m (£56m) offer from Arsenal for Andrea Belotti, but it does not reflect the value of the player.
“Anyway, he is going nowhere for now. We want to enjoy him, then we’ll see what happens.”
It appears, then, that if Arsenal want to bring the young Italian in they’ll have to up their offer and that would seriously shock our resident Gunners punters if the club did – given Arsene Wenger’s usual reluctance to spend big.
Our landlord believes he would be a good signing for the Gunners, though, even though Sky Sports are claiming to have been told that no bid was made anyway.
