Gunners fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have had a horrible transfer window this far, we’ve even had to Arsenal supporting members of staff quit due to embarrassment, but now Wenger has identified another target, and he had better get it right, our Landlord hates interviewing people.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, the Gunners are in talks with Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid over a deal for defender Jose Giminez as Wenger desperately ramps up his chase for a centre-half.
Arsenal have begun the season without Per Mertersacker and Gabriel Paulista who are both sidelined through injury and Laurent Koscielny who – bless him – is a bit tired.
The 21-year-old was a mainstay for Diego Simeone last season, making 37 appearances over the campaign, inlcluding eight in the Champions League.
However, as per the Mail’s report, the Champions League finalists are demanding a fee of £40m from the powers that be at the Emirates which, surprise surprise, the Gooners’ boss thinks is far too much.
Gunners fans, we want to hear from you! What do you make of Giminez? Should Wenger just pay whatever it takes to get a defender in? Let us know below…
