The January transfer window must represent a mixed time for Arsenal supporters.
Not often active, Arsene Wenger’s strange decision to bring in only an injury-stricken Kim Kallstrom while the Gunners battled for the Premier League back in 2013/14 will still annoy many of the club’s supporters, though the club have enjoyed success in the New Year sales.
Cult-heroes such as Emmanuel Eboue, Abou Diaby and Nacho Monreal all arrived as mid-season reinforcements, as well as the return of club legend Sol Campbell, so there certainly have been some bright spots over the years, despite the duds.
While it’s currently unclear as to whether or not current Emirates chief Unai Emery will opt to plunge into the market this month, a look back to some of the club’s best January buys may inspire him to do so.
