Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern really are desperately hoping that not having Champions League football isn’t going to hamper them signing new players.
For sure, the Gunners are an attractive proposition anyway for new players given the way they play football and some of the stars they have available.
But, they don’t have Champions League football next season – there is no escaping that – and so they are bound to see some players turn them down in favour for a move elsewhere.
It appears, though, that in the race for Riyad Mahrez they are at least the favourites at the moment with the Leicester winger looking likely for a move away from the King Power Stadium.
Indeed, according to The Leicester Mercury, the average odds at which you can get the Algerian title winner being at Arsenal next season are a rather small 2/1 – making the Gunners the leading side for his signature.
The Gunners, then, could seal this deal in the summer and it would certainly be interesting to see how the current Foxes man performs on such a stage.
Indeed, he had a good season for Leicester in 2015/16 but went off the boil last season and so has a point to prove if he did make a switch to the Emirates.
