Arsenal looking likely to miss out on European based star

Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for their side to get going this season as they are expecting a return to the top four at least.

The Gunners missed out on the Champions League places last season but that could prove a blessing in disguise with them now more than capable of prioritising the Premier League and doing so, well.

Arsene Wenger will be keen to see that happen, then, and with a few weeks left in the summer window he’ll surely be looking to try and sign some top players to bolster the squad further.

Who arrives, then, remains to be seen but it looks as though Arda Turan will not be arriving.

Marca had claimed that Arsenal were aiming to bring him in but turkish-football.com are of the opinion that Galatasaray are in the driving seat to bring him back to his homeland.

For sure, then, the Gunners will have to act quickly if they are to try and sign the midfielder from Barcelona but whilst we wait to see if they do, our landlord has got this to say about the situation:

Landlord’s Verdict

This might not actually be that bad a thing for Arsenal if they do miss out on Turan.

Indeed, whilst he’s a good player he’s not played much football at the top level over the last few years and has also gone through his peak years so isn’t likely to get any better.

And, with the Gunners already having a wealth of attacking options, it’s unlikely he’d nail down a first team spot at the Emirates, either, meaning that he’d likely be a waste of the Gunners’ cash.
