Arsenal make approach for Belgium star, Euro giants open to shock €25m summer sale

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern who’ve watched their side remain almost entirely dormant in the market have an odd sense of optimism as they enjoy an after work drink.

For once, they’re looking at their pint glasses half full, rather than half empty.

After signing Granit Xhaka for big money in order to beef up their midfield, the Gunners are now reportedly hot on the trail of another stylish European name ahead of the new season.

According to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, the North London giants have made tentative approaches to Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid for Belgian forward Yannick Carrasco.

The 22-year old notched the equaliser in Milan over the weekend and was one of the best players for Los Rojiblancos, enjoying a wonderful debut campaign since arriving from Monaco last summer in a £15m deal.

Able to operate across the frontline, the Belgium star’s direct nature could help fill a potential void created by the departures of either Theo Walcott or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Spanish giants are thought to be open to a sale should Arsene Wenger commission a bid of around €20-€25m this summer.

Will Arsenal ever win a fourth league title under the stewardship of Arsene Wenger?
