According to the Independent, Arsenal have made contact with Real Madrid to negotiate a deal to bring James Rodriguez – currently on loan with Bayern Munich – to the Emirates Stadium in this January transfer window.
The Colombian playmaker has fallen out of favour with the Bundesliga giants, who are thought to be open to the early termination of his loan stint in Bavaria.
It would be another loan deal bringing the 27-year-old to Arsenal, as Unai Emery has already admitted that the Gunners aren’t in a financial position to secure any permanent signings this month.
A switch to the Premier League could be exactly what James needs to get his career back on track.
Despite his current struggles in Germany, James remains a top class player. The 66-cap Colombia star is one of the most exciting attacking midfielders in Europe and has the capacity to have a huge impact at Arsenal.
If James could get back to his best in England then he could earn himself a permanent move to the Emirates, where he may even prove to be the long-term successor to the departing Aaron Ramsey. Or, the midfielder might even play himself into contention for a return to the first team fold at Real Madrid.
