Arsenal make last ditch attempt to prevent Spurs and Man City pipping them to star

Arsenal v RSC Anderlecht - UEFA Champions League Group Stage Matchday Four Group D

Arsenal fans have had a lot to put up with this season, with the coffers behind the Transfer Tavern swelled as a result of them drowning their sorrows.

It may seem like a relatively small problem, but the Gunners have had to watch some of their very best players make steps into coaching at other teams after hanging up their boots.

The likes of Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp were not kept on in coaching roles and have since gone on to enjoy success with Manchester City and Ajax respectively.

It just doesn’t sit right with the Gunners.

As a result of that happening again, they are reportedly making a last ditch effort to prevent Mikel Arteta from leaving the club in a similar capacity.

The Spaniard is understood to be a target for both City and Tottenham Hotspur as he moves into coaching, having a good relationship with both Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Gunners are believed to view the former Rangers and Everton man as a good option for their academy set up once he retires.

The club seem to be more determined than ever to keep a hold of their best players when they step behind the scenes.

Should Arsenal be doing more to keep their players on as coaching staff?
