Their recent malaise has had the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern down in the dumps earlier than expected this season, though the north London locals were delighted to see a trio of first-team stars extend their deals yesterday.
Olivier Giroud, Francis Coquelin and Laurent Koscielny all committed their futures to the Emirates giants and, while our resident Gunners are desperately hoping Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez soon do the same, it served up as good news in the bar.
Which make reports from the Daily Star all the more interesting. They’ve revealed that midfielder Jack Wilshere is being left in limbo over his future with the club, with no real efforts reportedly made to discuss the idea of extending his deal.
Currently on loan at Bournemouth in order to regain form and fitness, the England international has just 18 months left on his current contract and is said to already be considering what to do at the end of the season.
AC Milan, Everton and Manchester City are all touted as potentially interested parties in the report and the Arsenal fans in the bar are split on the idea of seeing him depart. Clearly a talented player, there’s little doubt the 24-year-old’s career has stalled somewhat.
