Arsenal midfielder hints at Emirates stay despite links away, decision to be made soon

He may not have always been the most dazzling of players at highest level, though the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have always reserved a special place in their hearts for Mikel Arteta.

The Spaniard said goodbye to his playing career yesterday and was involved in the last goal during a 4-0 romp over Aston Villa after five years in North London, winning two FA Cups.

Speculation over his future his rife, with reports suggesting both Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on drafting him into their coaching staff.

He shares a good relationship with both Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino from his playing days with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

However, with a number of top players leaving the Gunners to pursue coaching careers elsewhere, the former Everton and Rangers man has hinted he could be set to stay at the Emirates in that sort of capacity going forward.

‘I have been left the door very open and I may have to make a decision,’ he revealed to the London Evening Standard.

‘I don’t want to say [other] clubs but I have three very different options and I am very proud because it is not common.’
