As you can well imagine, the Arsenal fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been delighted to hear the club have opened talks with two players over their contracts.
Still, annoyingly for them, it’s not quite the news surrounding Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez they were expecting.
That’s because, according to the Daily Telegraph, the Gunners have opened negotiations with both Alex Oxlade-Chamerbalin and Santi Cazorla.
Arsene Wenger’s side see TEN players have their deals at the Emirates expire in the summer, with the latter being perhaps the biggest name there.
The Spaniard, while injured at the moment, is one of the most popular players in north London is, according to Le Prof, almost certain to extend his stay by at least another year.
”We’ve started with Santi as well and will certainly extend with him”, said the 67-year-old.
Meanwhile, England international Chamberlain sees his current deal run out in around 18 months, making this a crucial period to extend for the former Southampton ace.
He’s been making strides this season, despite failing to truly capitalise on the sort of potential he showed at Southampton often enough when playing for the club.
“We have started talking to Ox”, added Wenger.
This news has largely been rather well received amongst our north London locals, who are now keen just to get Ozil and Sanchez secured.
