Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is keen to leave the north London club after growing frustrated with the general direction of the club, according to The Independent.
Is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang too good for Arsenal in their current state?
It is being reported by the British publication that the Gabon international wants to join a club that can better challenge for major honours.
However, he is not the only player to be considering this issue with Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and several other players also considering their future.
This report comes out amid his brother, Willy Aubameyang publicly voicing his displeasure when Mikel Arteta was being touted as the replacement for Unai Emery earlier this week.
It seems like it’s one step forward, two steps back for the north London giants.
After selling Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United, the Gunners were lucky enough to prise the former Borussia Dortmund man away from Signal Iduna Park and create a strikeforce consisting of him and Lacazette.
However, with both players reportedly considering their future, you wonder just what the future will hold for the club.
To say Aubameyang has been a crucial player for the club would be something of an understatement.
This season alone, the 30-year-old has won the Gunners 13 of their 22 points in the Premier League (via Transfermarkt). His impact is so fruitful, that without Aubameyang the club would be sitting joint-bottom of the league table, alongside Watford (via Premier League).
However, taking a deeper dive into the attacking statistics and you begin to get worried about the club’s prospects without Aubameyang.
Out of the entire squad, the former AC Milan man has had the most shots than any other teammate, showing his influence in the final third.
You simply can’t imagine what would happen if Aubameyang was to leave the club in the near future. He has been so crucial that if he was to leave, finishing mid-table could well become the norm if a suitable replacement is not found.
