News coming in through the doors of the Football Transfer Tavern from North London this morning is that Arsene Wenger may be looking to poach a replacement for Hector Bellerin from London rivals, West Ham.
With Bellerin being strongly tipped to replace Dani Alves at Barcelona after his move to Juventus, Wenger may well be in the market for a new right back.
Our Italian barman here at the Tavern has been scouring the media in his homeland and has noticed that Italian website, TransferMarketWeb have reported that Bellerin’s replacement could well be West Ham right back, Sam Byram.
The former Leeds defender had a mixed start to his West Ham career with injuries, suspensions and cup ties marring his first six months under Slaven Bilic.
Our pragmatic Landlord however has noted that the 22-year-old will not come cheap. West Ham paid £4m to bring Byram to Upton Park in the January window last season, handing him a four-and-a-half year contract, which means Arsenal will have to stump up big money to bring him to North London.
Arsenal fans, what do you think? Would Byram be an adequate replacement should Bellerin return to his former club, Barcelona? Let us know below…
