Arsenal ready to ship England international out to Premier League rivals, Wenger after top centre-back

Calum Chambers

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have let a wry chorus of celebration following reports one of their most disappointing performers could be on his way out of the club.

When Calum Chambers moved to North London in 2014 from Southampton, many of our punters propping up the bar were touting him as the next promising young English defender.

However, the 21-year old has seen his progress stall in the last 18 months or so and he has lost his place for both club and country.

Reports emerged yesterday that the Gunners were willing to farm the defender out on loan to further develop him as a player, while they ramp up efforts to draft in a top centre-backs.

Now, according to the Daily Mirror, the Saints are the front runners in the chase to land him and are keen on bringing him back to the South Coast on loan.

The likes of Crystal Palace and Bournemouth were also thought to be in the race, though Saints chief Ronald Koeman is believed to have had scouts in attendance during the England under-21 Toulon tournament.

Arsenal fans, how disappointed have you been in Chambers? Do you feel he can play at the highest level?
