Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern really don’t know what to make of their club’s transfer window with them still reflecting on what went on in the past couple of months.
The men from the Emirates have already got themselves embroiled in a pretty poor situation this season with two losses on their record from their opening three games and evident disharmony amongst the fans and the players.
For sure, then, the window was about the only opportunity for Arsene Wenger to sort some of that out and get everyone pulling together for the rest of the campaign and, as is seemingly the way with him right now, he didn’t act accordingly.
Indeed, the Gunners, in order to progress, though this sounds weird, had to sell Alexis Sanchez this summer.
The Chilean forward does not want to be at the club, that much is clear, and there were teams willing to buy him for a fair whack of money despite him having one year left in his deal.
Indeed, had they sold him early on they could have replaced him quickly and probably done the same with a few others that are set to cause more havoc over the coming months.
This is not to say Sanchez is some sort of poison apple, of course, but to see him berate his team-mates after every mistake now is becoming really rather poor and Wenger should have cut him loose and moved on.
