Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern thought they’d forgotten how to smile this season but they did actually manage a grin last night as they beat West Ham 3-0.
Indeed, it put some perspective on things, too, with our local West Ham fans saying they’d give anything to be where Arsenal are at the moment as we head towards the run-in.
Certainly, Arsenal could still finish in the top four and win the FA Cup so it’s not all bad though a report from L’Equipe – via Sportsmole – is putting the optimism under threat.
According to the French outlet, then, Marseille are looking to try and get Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny in during the summer market when it opens.
That could be a real setback for Arsenal, then, especially in the case of the latter.
Indeed, whilst Giroud is good he’s not irreplaceable, whereas Koscielny is by some way the club’s best defender.
Lose him, then, and things could be difficult next season before they’ve even begun so our Arsenal fans are hoping this story doesn’t come to pass.
