Arsenal reportedly ready to hand divisive figure extended stay at club as debate continues

There hasn’t been much to shout about for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern recently, having watched their side absolutely torn apart by rivals Chelsea this weekend. Despite starting the campaign with so much optimism, it seems another title tilt has fallen flat on its face.

Which is why reports from the Times yesterday proved so divisive amongst our north London locals. They’ve revealed manager Arsene Wenger HAS been handed a new deal at the Emirates, with his current contract expiring at the end of the current campaign.

Undoubtedly a club legend, there’s a growing feeling amongst our punters that Le Proftime is up and top brass with the club should look for a new man to take charge. Having not won a Premier League title in 12 years, Arsenal’s lack of winning mentality has seemingly stopped them landing an elusive fourth crown under his watch.

Though some of our drinkers are wary of so quickly replacing a man so intertwined with the club, having watched what happened to Manchester United upon the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, another section simply can’t go on watching the same thing over and over it seems.

Should Wenger be given another season? Let us know below…
