Arsenal rock arch rivals Spurs by moving in on shock deal for prolific €30m forward

The North London divide is perhaps at its most amusing when the Arsenal and Spurs supporting punters in the Transfer Tavern have had a few drinks on an after-work-evening.

Clearly, the fiery flames of the fierce rivalry need no fanning, though everything seems to get far more dramatic when the notion of a player having to chose between the two gets involved.

Well, exactly that has happened as we gear up for the proverbial silly season.

According to Portuguese TV station SIC Noticias (via the Daily Star), the Gunners are ready to battle their not-so-friendly-neighbours in the race for prolific Sporting Lisbon ace Islam Slimani.

The 27-year old has been strongly linked with a move to White Hart Lane as a high quality alternative to star man Harry Kane ahead of the club’s venture back into the Champions League.

Having notched an impressive 34 goals in all competitions last season, the Algerian is also believed to be of interest to Premier League champions Leicester City.

However, it is now thought that Arsene Wenger is gearing up to make a bid for the forward, who is reported to have a €30m release clause in the Portuguese capital.

Will Spurs finish above Arsenal next season?
