Arsenal should look to lure £4.5m-rated Scotsman to replace Nacho Monreal this summer

The Arsenal fans within the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that next season will bring more domestic success considering that apart from their Europa League progression so far, the Gunners have had a really poor season.

Recently, Arsenal have returned to their shaky selves, particularly in defence as the steady defence of recent weeks has again disappeared. Like Man City have proved this season, making improvements at the back could be the key to allow Arsenal to again return to their successful days. The only difference between the teams is that City are willing to spend millions, knowing that that money will pay off. The Gunners board have been criticised for a number of years for not spending enough, so this summer will be the perfect time to prove everyone wrong and put their money where their mouths are.

Nacho Monreal is ageing and also being utilised as a centre-back instead of his usual left-back position. This leaves a void for a young, talented left-back to arrive at the Emirates, someone our punters believe should be Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, who is valued at £4.50 million on Transfermarkt.

Tierney is only 20-years-old but already interest is surrounding the Scotsman from all of the top clubs in England. So far this season in 50 appearances, the number 63 has scored four times and assisted his teammates on 10 occasions, a brilliant amount for a young left-back.

Kieran Tierney is well equipped to attack as well as perform his defensive duties and if he arrived at the Emirates, given the youth success Arsenal have already had, we believe that Tierney will be another example of a success story. It will not be easy to try and prize Kieran Tierney away considering Man United are already heavily linked, but it’s time that Arsenal prove their power as a club once more.
