Unai Emery has made a massive impact on the Arsenal squad since replacing Arsene Wenger in the summer.
The Gunners have made plenty of progress in a short space of time since the Spaniard took the reins back in May. Replacing the legendary Frenchman was always going to be difficult, but Emery seems to have already formed a good connection with the Emirates faithful. With results improving steadily, Arsenal fans will be hoping the club can secure a return to the Champions League at the end of the season.
The January transfer window is now less than two months away, and the former PSG boss will again have the opportunity to strengthen his squad. With Danny Welbeck set for a long spell on the sidelines, Emery would be wise to bolster his attacking options in the New Year.
The man who should be at the top of his shortlist is Borussia Dortmund superstar – Marco Reus. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the German burst on the scene at Borussia Monchengladbach before Dortmund quickly secured his services. Reus’ exceptional form continued making him one of the world’s most courted talents at one point in his career. With injuries hurting his progress in recent years, the winger has finally rediscovered his best form.
Reus can’t stop scoring in the Bundesliga at the moment, with eight goals and five assists in just 11 appearances so far this season. The 29-year-old has thrived in a central role in Germany and linking up with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang again would cause plenty of headaches for Premier League defences. Adding Reus to their already strong attacking outlet could be the boost Arsenal need to guarantee a top-four finish in the Premier League.
The Germany international is playing the best football of his career and is ready-made for Emery’s 4-2-3-1 system. The time is right to bring him to England finally.
