The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are praying that whoever takes over the reigns from Arsene Wenger will be able to have a positive influence on the Gunners, propelling their league position.
It’s been a tough season at the Emirates but fans of Arsenal everywhere are pulling together now to give Arsene Wenger the send-off he deserves after 22 years at the club. Arsenal’s defence has been a constant weakness this season and that is something the new boss will look to address from the word go.
Someone our punters certainly think could improve the Gunners in the defensive third is German international Jonas Hector, who is valued at £16.2 million on Transfer Markt. Having been a strong, reliable defender in the Bundesliga, Hector may think to challenge himself elsewhere with Arsenal providing him with the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Having featured in 20 games this season, despite having injury issues, Hector has proven over the last few years the kind of asset he would be for Arsenal because of his ability to play left-back or as a defensive midfielder, two positions Arsenal are looking to strengthen this summer.
Solid defensively and excellent going forward, Hector – who is a German international – has arguably been one of the finest defenders on the continent over the last few years.
Hector certainly fits the criteria that Arsenal are after in a defender and should they wish to improve their luck domestically next season, Arsenal simply have to start by sorting out their defence.
Jonas Hector is a good option and at 27-years-old, he still has time on his side to improve.
