Arsenal slap stunning £28m bid for prolific in-demand forward, ideal Giroud replacement

It’s unfamiliar territory for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern, who’ve seen their side finally pull their finger out and actually spend in the market.

The Gunners propping up the bar tonight don’t really know what to make of it. Delighted, of course. But still.

That’s because, fresh from the big money signing of midfielder Granit Xhaka, the Sun claims the North London giants have submitted a £28m bid for Alvaro Morata.

The Spanish forward has emerged as one of the hottest properties in Europe after staring for Juventus in recent seasons, reportedly attracting the interest of the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Real Madrid, who sold him to the Old Lady in 2014, are thought to be keen on invoke their £24m buyback clause, then to sell him on for much bigger money.

However, it is claimed that the Gunners have tabled a £28m bid to the Serie A champions, after the La Roja international reportedly fell out with manager Massimo Allegri.

The lack of a truly potent marksman has been one of the major issues dogging the side in their quest to land an elusive fourth Premier League title under Arsene Wenger and a source of much fan frustration.

Would Morata be the ideal striker to spearhead Arsenal next season?
