Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have woken up to the news they were desperate to hear, after a superstar in North London gave a positive hint about his future at the club.
Mesut Ozil has entered the final 18 months of his deal with the Gunners and there have been concerns that he would not put pen to paper, opening the door for an exit this summer – if Arsenal wanted to receive funds for his services.
However, the World Cup winner has suggested he’s content in his current surroundings when speaking to Germany’s official national team website, after being named the Fans Player of the Year for the fifth time in six years.
“Since last season I have just arrived in the Premier League. I have stayed largely free of injury and I also feel very comfortable in London. Playfully, I try to be a bit more selfish in front of the goal, this season has worked quite often.”
Ozil has improved tremendously in front of goal this season, netting nine in all competitions – including a superb hat-trick against Ludogorets in the group stage of the Champions League.
With a further six assists to his name, Ozil is a crucial part of the Gunners attack and the club are understandably desperate for him to pen a new deal.
Our landlord believes they’ll reach a positive outcome eventually with Ozil, although he fears a different conclusion with the future of Alexis Sanchez.
How important is it that Arsenal sign Ozil to a new deal? Let us know in the comments below!
