Joe Hart has made it clear that he is not interested in spending the season sitting on the bench at Manchester City if he is to be second in the pecking order behind Shay Given. This has opened the door for loan offers from other Premiership clubs to secure his services for the season like Birmingham did last season.
Sunderland has been the club showing keenest interest in the promising England goalkeeper with Steve Bruce looking for a replacement for the injured Craig Gordon. It is thought that Sunderland have made an offer and are waiting for a response from Manchester City.
One club that are in need of a new keeper is Arsenal and last month Arsene Wenger made enquiries into the availability of both Shay Given and Joe Hart. Following the revelation that Joe Hart is unwilling to play second fiddle to Shay Given at Manchester City now would seem like the perfect time to swoop in and offer him an opportunity to play for one of the Premier Leagues best clubs that has a history of developing up and coming talent into outstanding players.
I understand completely why Hart is unwilling to sit on the bench at Manchester City at such an important stage in his career and I believe a loan move to Arsenal would be the best move for him. I also believe that this move would be beneficial to his prospects of being England’s first choice keeper in the near future.
Arsenal have also been looking at the more experienced Mark Schwarzer as a replacement keeper, but in a toss up between him and Joe Hart I would go with the latter, especially when thinking of the prospect of prising him away from Manchester City on a more long term basis.
