Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern really are hoping that Arsene Wenger is going to produce the goods this summer in the transfer window.
The Gunners had a pretty poor time of things last season and now do not have Champions League football to offer potential new players for the new campaign.
Wenger, then, is going to have to find other ways to attract players from around the game but whilst we wait to see who comes in, it appears as though one man is on his way out – David Ospina.
The goalkeeper has been the number 2 for the duration of his Arsenal career and it now looks as though he could be on his way out of the club – with Sporx saying a deal with Turkish side Fenerbahce could be agreed within a week.
The South American, then, will surely be keen on the idea given he’s more likely to play week in, week out whilst it also remains to be seen if Arsenal decide to go for another stopper.
They have Petr Cech, of course, and the Polish international Wojciech Szczesny is still owned by the club but you get the feeling a new back-up ‘keeper will be needed if this deal comes to pass with Ospina.
