Arsenal twist… Wenger replacement has been in talks with Gunners in past week

Just a day after claiming that Arsene Wenger is set to stay on as Arsenal manager for another two seasons The Sun are now reporting that Massimiliano ‘Max’ Allegri has been in talks with the club over the course of the past week in regards to replacing the Frenchman, which has caused some confusion here in the Transfer Tavern.

The Gunners boss’ future has been debated endlessly over the course of the past few months with results on the pitch having dipped and his contract running ever closer to its expiration at the end of the season.

The Sun claimed on Wednesday that Wenger and the London side had finalised terms on a 24-month extension to this, but now they’re reporting that Juventus boss Allegri has been approached.

It’s understood that the uncertainty surrounding ‘Le Prof’ and his future at Arsenal prompted contact with the Italian’s camp to discuss the possibility of him relocating to the Emirates Stadium.

Allegri has been a big hit at Juve, winning back-to-back league and cup doubles since succeeding Antonio Conte in 2014, a feat that is likely to occur for a third time this term given their Serie A lead and June Coppa Italia Final vs. Lazio.

Max Allegri is the right manager for Arsenal – agree?
