Arsenal have been busy this transfer window and it looks like they're not finished just yet.

The Gunners have been getting down to work quickly in the transfer window and have already signed four new first-team players to the squad. While Arsenal have strengthened in defence and at goalkeeper, the club is still very undermanned in midfield, especially with the departure of Jack Wilshere.

Due to Arsenal's low numbers in midfield, the club have been linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder, Andre Gomes. Unai Emery is apparently a big fan of the Portuguese midfielder and is keen to bring him to partner Granit Xhaka in midfield. According to the Transfermarketweb, Tottenham have joined the race for Gomes.

The Breakdown

The former Valencia midfielder has had a terrible time at Barcelona. Ever since arrival in Catalonia, it seems like Barcelona have never seemed sure where to play him. Gomes only managed 16 games last season and is likely to leave Barcelona for a relatively low transfer fee.

There may seem some risk to Andre Gomes as he's never really performed at Barcelona, due to his relatively low price, it might also be the best time to get him. Having someone with the ability to take the ball from deep and drive forward could be vital for Arsenal. However, with the arrival of Lucas Torreira, it seems Gomes would be relegated to a bench role. In terms of Tottenham's interest in the player, with Moussa Dembele ageing, the 24-year-old replacement could be a long-term replacement for the Belgium international.
