Yes, its true. Arsenal are again being linked with another ‘potential January transfer’ and this time its Valencia’s benchwarmer Daniel Pajero.
The 22 year old Spanish midfielder only joined Unai Emerys men this summer from Getafe for an estimated £6 million but already Pajero seems to be a spectator for his new club with first team opportunities limited.
Pajero is being lined up as support to Song and Frimpong during their African Cup of Nations jaunt in January and initial discussions are rumoured to have taken place with a bid of £5 million for the former Real Madrid youngster.
However, Arsenal fans could see this transfer as yet another last minute solution for a problem that Wenger should have been aware of during the summer.
Pajero’s potential arrival in January is hardly going to give the midfielder time to settle in with his new team mates or get to grips with the pace of the Premiership. However, Pajero is no stranger to English Football.
A brief loan spell with QPR in 2008 where he made several appearances for the London side could been deemed as fairly successful despite QPR going through a very difficult season financially and emotionally. Pajero was eventually recalled to Madrid as cover for injuries to Real’s De la Red and Diarra, calling an end to his English adventure. Could Pajero have unfinished business then?
The former Spanish under 21 international certainly won’t be sending out any threat to the league, unlike his former Valencia team-mate Juan Mata. Mata, once on Arsenals radar, has made quite an impact since his arrival at Chelsea in the summer and his Real Madrid pedigree is already showing with superb performances, great technical ability and more importantly goals.
Pajero, on the other hand, won’t have any Premiership clubs trembling at the thought of facing the midfielder. The former Real youth graduate is struggling to maintain the form that he showed for Getafe in the 2009-2010 season when he helped the club qualify for the UEFA Europa league.
Pajero will certainly jump at the opportunity of first team football and regular games but he doesn’t appear to be the strongest signing for a club and manager that is under constant scrutiny over every move they make.
Will Daniel Pajero be the man in January to guide the Arsenal through a period of tough absences? A London derby, a Welsh mission of vengeance and a Bolton backlash are just a taster of the treacherous meetings the Gunners will have to navigate through without key midfield players. Will the currently unplayed Daniel Pajero be enough? Oh and let’s not forget a visit from Manchester United.
Surely if Wenger wants to right some wrongs in that particular game, a big signing or two wouldn’t go amiss with Daniel Pajero not being one of them? Daniel, if the rumour is true and you arrive at Arsenal come January, all the best my friend, all the best!Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
