Arsenal fans here in the Tavern want to see a managerial change at the Emirates, after missing out on a rare chance of silverware in Sunday’s Carabao Cup defeat.
Arsene Wenger has had arguably his worst season in charge of the North London club, as the Gunners currently sit 10 points off the Champions League places with a game in hand. Indeed, this has caused for our local residents to hurl abuse at the Frenchman over the course of the season, something that’s been a regular feature in hostile crowds at the Emirates. And, it appears that supporters aren’t the only ones wanting Wenger out of the managerial hot seat, as according to reports in the Daily Mail, the relationship between Arsenal’s Chief executive officer Ivan Gazidis and Arsene Wenger is said to have been marred.
Indeed, Ivan Gazidis hasn’t shared the best of relationships with Wenger in recent times, after he proposed for the Frenchman to leave his current role to become the director of football last season. And, their broken relationship could just be one of the underlying factors that sees the 68-year-old leave his post at the end of the season.
Of course, his future in North London still remains uncertain after news emerged that Arsenal will review his position at the end of the season, with the prospect of ending Wenger’s 22-year reign being a genuine option. And, this is looking increasingly likely, as Sunday’s emphatic defeat against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final looks set to be followed up with the disappointment of Europa League football for next season.
The sacking of Arsene Wenger is now well overdue after producing the worst two seasons in the Frenchman’s reign in North London, as many supporters look forward to his inevitable exit. And, with the CEO also not sharing the best of relationships with the Arsenal boss, it appears as if this could be a crucial factor when deciding his managerial future.
