As if we at the Football Transfer Tavern don’t think QPR manager Harry Redknapp has it tough enough, the latest news from the Mail Online looks set to make his Christmas even worse. Top transfer target Demba Ba is set to snub interest from the club and push for a move to Paris Saint Germain.
Redknapp has identified the player as one of his top targets in order to secure Premier League survival and with a clear out on the way, Ba is seen as the perfect player to come in and help in the dog fight.
Ba however is prepared to hold out for a move to boyhood heroes PSG and with only a £7 million buy out clause, Newcastle are prepared to lose the Senegalese striker they paid so little for and got so much out of. Unlike manager Alan Pardew, Ba did not pen an eight year deal and as our landlord points out, Newcastle have little choice but to accept the forward’s departure.
Of course QPR are not the only Premier League club interested in the hitman, with Arsenal sniffing around, yet with the player stating that: “I look at PSG as a fan, as a supporter, I have never concealed my attraction to the club as a fan, which I have been since I was little,” it seems Harry will have to either pull of a master-stroke in the market or look for new forward alternatives.
