For the first time in a while, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been celebrating long into the night following their victory over Manchester United and Jose Mourinho.
The Gunners kept their faint top four hopes alive with a 2-0 win yesterday, with midfielder Granit Xhaka crucial to their victory at the Emirates. Though the Swiss international hasn’t wholly convinced the fans in the bar since his expensive summer move, the 24-year-old was a key figure.
So, reports from the London Evening Standard have caused concern amongst our drinkers. They’ve revealed Xhaka is likely to miss Arsenal’s upcoming clash away at Southampton on Wednesday after damaging his ankle.
He initially picked up the problem in the loss away to Tottenham last week and, though he started yesterday, was withdrawn in the 76th minute for Francis Coquelin.
One of the men flourishing as a result of Arsenal’s recent change in system, he’ll be a big miss for the trip to the south coast as the club look to keep their dreams alive.
