While the title has so far eluded Arsenal, recent years have spelled an end to the most annual yearly sale of the club’s best players.
The North London locals in the Transfer Tavern would usually find themselves bemoaning the loss of the likes of Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas or Robin van Persie at this time of year, though the Gunners have put an end to that unwelcome tradition.
So there’s that at least.
Still, reports emanating out of Germany, from Bild, suggesting Bayern Munich could make a stunning swoop on defensive lynchpin Laurent Koscielny will have worried those propping up the bar this evening.
The classy Frenchman is reportedly being eyed by incoming chief Carlo Ancelotti, who has already landed Mats Hummels to the Bavarian giants’ ranks.
It would be a disaster for the Gunners, who have largely built their backline on the classy Les Blues international over the past few years.
Can Arsenal really afford to lose their stoic servant?
