The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were pleased to hear the news coming out of their club today that Egyptian midfielder, Mohamed Elneny has signed a contract extension with the North London club. Arsenal tweeted the news with a link to the Arsenal website for more details.
Elneny has been one of Arsenal’s most reliable players in the last few months. Whilst surrounded by underperforming players and plagued with an under-performing manager, the Arsenal squad player has gained a number of plaudits for his midfield displays. No Arsenal fan will claim that their Egyptian central midfielder is their most important player, but he’s still a vital cog in the Arsenal machine as he’s made appearances both starting and off the bench for his club this season.
The Arsenal fans propping our bar up will be delighted with the news and will hope that Elneny can be one of a number of players the club is looking to tie up with deals. Mesut Ozil signed a contract extension earlier in the year and the fans have been willing two other midfielders to extend their stay at The Emirates in Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey. The Elneny deal presents a good piece of business for the club as any potential suitors for the 25-year-old will now have to pay more if they’re to recruit the Egyptian international.
With that in mind, here’s our resident Gunners’ verdict:
