Arsenal and Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have both reacted in surprise this morning, after one ace hinted at a return to English football just months after leaving the Premier League.
Speaking to German outlet Bild, Serge Gnabry revealed he was open to joining the Gunners or the Blues, despite having only left Arsenal for Wolfsburg this summer.
‘For my future, I’ve decided to focus on how I play now and today. That’s why I’m trying to concentrate on the now. As of today, I do not intend to change in the summer. But what happens in the future depends on my performance.’
‘What if Chelsea or Arsenal come knocking? Well, at the moment I’m trying to give everything to Werder.’
Gnabry, once highly-rated in North London, left in the summer after his first-team opportunities at the Gunners became restricted, as the German faced competition for football with the likes of Alex Iwobi, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott.
The 21-year-old has since excelled in the Bundesliga, netting seven goals and securing one assist during his 15 league appearances.
Our landlord believes it’s only a matter of time before Gnabry returns to English football and fears Arsenal may regret selling him.
