Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are getting sick of one of their star players picking and choosing when he fancies playing, and with the revamped look coming in the summer – they’re thinking it’s time for him to move on.
Mesut Ozil in recent times has been a cut a consistent figure…from the stands. With many in the bar noticing that since he has signed his new 350k a week contract back in February he has barely featured for the Gunners, which is making, not only the fans but his teammates fed up with his prima-donna antics.
In fact, he has not started 25 of Arsenal’s 58 games so far this season, which is concerning for such an important star of the team and one of the highest earners within the squad.
With the shortlist for the Arsenal job withering it’s way down, the new man in charge may look at this stat and feel it’s time for the German midfielder to move on. Our punters sitting around the table have a few ideas of who could replace him, however, as always the landlord is there with the final name that should be on the new manager’s list come July…
OUR VERDICT – Nabil Fekir
The Lyon star has fast become one of Europe’s most talked about playmakers.
Fekir had started the season in superb style, scoring seven goals and contributing four assists in his first nine league games – and that form hasn’t dipped with him only building upon his strong start.
With the 24-year-old’s price dramatically rising from all the time to his current valuation of £45m by Transfermarkt, and with many teams across Europe rumoured to be watching him closely, it’ll be hard for Lyon to keep hold of their man.
