Cengiz Under and Arsenal could learn to be world class together

Arsenal came from behind to defeat Tottenham 4-2 in an entertaining north London derby at the weekend.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang handed the Gunners the perfect start from the penalty spot after Jan Vertonghen handled in the area before Spurs hit back with goals from Eric Dier and Harry Kane. The Gabon international levelled the scoreline after the interval with a wonderful finish before goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira handed Unai Emery victory in his first derby as Arsenal manager.

The win was further evidence of Arsenal’s massive transformation since the arrival of the Spaniard. The former PSG manager’s substitutions worked perfectly, and Emery helped galvanise the Emirates crowd to spark a comeback. The Gunners are now in the Premier League top four and the ex-Sevilla boss will get the chance to add to his squad when the transfer window reopens in less than a month.

One man who should be on his shortlist is Roma sensation – Cengiz Under. Valued at £24.3m by Transfermarkt, the 21-year-old made his name for Basaksehir before being snapped up by the Italian giants in the summer of 2017. Stepping into Mohamed Salah’s boots was never going to be easy, but Under ended the campaign with a respectable seven goals in just 15 Serie A starts.

A skilful winger with an eye for goal – Under could be the final piece of the puzzle in the Arsenal attack. The Turkey international loves to beat his man before crossing for his team-mates or taking a shot on goal. His shooting ability was on show at the weekend against Inter Milan, rifling home a left-footed shot from a distance during the 2-2 draw.

The sky is the limit for the youngster who is improving with every game. In a squad of Arsenal’s quality under a world-class coach like Emery, Under could become a Premier League great.
