Both Chelsea and Manchester City have joined a whole heap of clubs all battling it out to sign the signature of Belgian starlet Eden Hazard.
The 20-year old playmaker has become one of the hottest properties on the market and only a fee of around £40 million will be enough to secure his services.
Arsenal were linked with him in the summer but could not seal the deal. Now with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid all declaring their interest in Hazard, I bet Arsenal wish they tried just a little bit harder.
Lille academy director Jean-Michel Vandamme, the man who brought Hazard to France indicated that Chelsea have emerged as the latest suitors to be interested, but will have to wait till the summer to sort out a deal.
He said: “Eden is certainly willing to stay at Lille at least until next summer. Here is his home, this is his garden.
“Chelsea has been following him the closest”.
It was reported that Real Madrid director Zinedine Zidane spoke to Hazard and told the Belgian that his future lied in Spain. Lille director Jean-Michel Vandamme also indicated the possibility of Hazard moving to Spain.
“The Spaniards have not manifested themselves yet, but I think they are playing it smart and will call when they know they have to – I’m talking about Real, but also about Barcelona.”
“The buyer will have to come up with a lot of money – let us say he is not currently to go for less than £40million.”
