Chelsea move ahead of London rivals Arsenal in chase for lethal forward

Though the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are on the proverbial Cloud 9 after they watched their side close in on a sensational deal for Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, the deal could have ramifications.

Ramifications the Chelsea fans are reacting to with frenzied delight.

According to the Guardian, the Blues are ramping up attempts to land Spanish forward Alvaro Morata, who has been strongly linked with the Gunners.

With doubts over the long-term future of Diego Costa, incoming chief Antonio Conte is thought to have stepped up his interest in the 23-year old Juventus ace.

They are reportedly hopeful of reaching an agreement over what would be a complicated deal also involving Real Madrid before the start of Euro 2016.

Los Blancos are due to invoke their buy-back clause for the forward, only to sell him for an immediate profit.

Still, with growing-ever-bitter rivals Arsenal close to sealing the Vardy deal, the West London giants may well be afforded a free pass at the La Roja marksman.

Will Jamie Vardy work at Arsenal? Is it destined to fail?
