Ahead of their game against Burnley on the weekend, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing whether or not they can close the eight-point gap on league leaders Chelsea, with even the most ardent Gunners propping up the bar not entirely hopeful.
Still, our north London locals are confident of a win this weekend, though reports from the London Evening Standard have caused further concern amongst the Emirates faithful in the bar. They claim THREE English talents at the club have seen their futures cast into doubt as they are yet to open contract talks.
With only 18 months left on their respective deals, the representatives of Three Lions trio Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are reportedly yet to hear from top brass in north London over the idea of extending.
Wilshere is currently on loan with Bournemouth in a boost to build his fitness after suffering a nightmare few years with injuries and the 24-year-old has started 14 games for the Cherries this term, forcing his way back into Gareth Southgate’s international setup.
There have been suggestions Arsenal will look to extend his deal, though this report claims no talks have yet happened. Elsewhere, defender Gibbs is believed to be open to the idea of leaving his boyhood charges after losing his place to Nacho Monreal.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a move to Liverpool of late and many of the punters in the bar have expressed frustration that the 23-year-old has not progressed as hoped.
Should Arsenal be extending the deals of these players? Let us know below…
