Controversial former Arsenal captain eyeing sensational return to club, ideal Giroud replacement

While the punters in the Transfer Tavern are no battle hardened to rumours and reports, the sheer nature of silly season still has some of the most ardent drinkers in shock.

According to the Independent, Robin van Persie could soon be on his way BACK to Arsenal after a miserable spell with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The 32-year old left the Gunners in a controversial deal to join Manchester United in 2012, helping the Red Devils to their last league title under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He was captain at the Emirates and Arsene Wenger’s star turn, though the Dutchman quickly jumped ship as his contract in North London was winding down.

Now, after a second season at Old Trafford, the Oranje record scorer is reportedly eager to return to the English capital.

Though Arsenal have moved on in the years since he left, the Emirates outfit still lack a top quality central striker to spearhead a serious title tilt.

Arsenal fans, would you take RVP back?!
