The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been responding to comments made by their manager, Arsene Wenger about Jack Wilshere and his role in the England squad. The Frenchman has stated that when Wilshere is at full power and full fitness then he has to be starting in Gareth Southgate’s England squad. Wenger made the comments whilst talking to BeIN Sport (via Sky Sports).
Wilshere hasn’t appeared for England since the infamous loss to Iceland at Euro 2016 nearly two years ago, meaning he is yet to play under Gareth Southgate. The Arsenal man has failed to appear for England due to a mixture of injuries and being out of favour with Southgate, although he was set to start in last Friday’s visit to the Amsterdam Arena where England beat the Netherlands 1-0 but had to pull out of the squad with an injury.
Wenger’s comments about the 26-year-old are sure to help motivate the England man as he’ll be desperate to put in some impressive performances and try to guarantee himself a place on the plane to Russia in the summer. At club level, Wilshere is also in a stand-off over his current contract and if he can take his levels up a gear it could convince Wenger to offer him the deal that many feel he deserves at The Emirates.

Well, there is pretty much no choice in the midfield, so that’s going to be him!!!

I’d agree but the chances of ever seeing that @JackWilshere are pretty slim based upon the last decade. Cracking player when fit, but that’s not often enough unfortunately

Agree but he’s not been in full power and fitness in a long time.

Correct. However he is made of polystyrene.

I agree with this one . In that CM role he is competing with jonjo , hendo & winks. Bossed the game against BM and influential against pool

I agree, but that’s not the issue is it? The first line of that statement happens about 4 games a season.
