The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are tonight drowning their sorrows following reports emanating out of Spain.
With Arsene Wenger already starting the season on the back foot, the tension amongst our North London locals is palpable.
Now, with reports from Plaza Deportivo, it looks as if the misery at the Emirates could well continue.
According to the Spanish outlet, the Gunners’ deal for Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi is dead in the water.
Amid shock links with Southampton captain Jose Fonte, who would presumably be cheaper than the 24-year old, one of the biggest defensive deals in the club’s history looks like being called off.
It will no doubt come as a further source of frustration to the Arsenal faithful, who have vented their feelings after seeing the club remain relatively inactive in the transfer market.
Has this been Wenger’s worst ever transfer window?! Let us know below…
