Defender reportedly hoping to push through Arsenal move before Tuesday

With the local Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern discussing all things Arsene Wenger following his recent antics, there’s been little chatter in regards to actual dealings within the closing stages of the window.

Our resident Gunners are aware of the fact Le Prof is barely noted for his activity in the New Year sales, so even small transfer tidbits emanating out of north London go down a storm amongst them. So, reports in the Daily Mirror have at least provided them with some food for thought.

They claim defender Mathieu Debuchy is eager to push through a move away from the Emirates after reportedly being told he can the leave. Despite being drafted in from Newcastle United back in the summer of 2014, the Les Blues international soon lost his place to Hector Bellerin as a result of injury.

As the Spaniard continues to impress, the Frenchman cannot seem to buy a game under Wenger right now, with Gabriel also emerging as a potential option to fill in on that flank. Having played just 16 minutes this term, the 32-year-old is reportedly hoping for a move back to his native Ligue 1.

As you can well imagine, it’s barely even had an effect on the Arsenal fans propping up the bar in the Tavern.

Where should Debuchy go? Let us know below…
