We’ve had to order in extra gin of late with Arsenal fans needing something a little stronger than their usual pints of lager amid the Arsene Wenger saga and the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil dominating headlines.
And our landlord is now planning another trip to the wholesalers, with the Daily Star having revealed that the aforementioned Chilean attacker has his heart set on leaving north London this summer.
Although this may not come as too much of a shock, the report claims that La Liga side Sevilla – who, no disrespect, are not true European heavyweights – are leading the race
The reason for this is the presence of Chilean manager Jorge Sampaoli, whom Sanchez worked under at international level, but the Andalusians also face competition from Atletico Madrid, who are working to try and overturn a transfer ban that, as things stand, rules them out of any additions until the summer of 2018.
Building on the theme of the 28-year-old’s unrest, the Daily Star claim that the player has informed team-mates that he wants out as his demands for a £200,000+-per-week contract go unheeded, while the Gunners’ on-field woes have also irked him.
On top of this, even the possibility of Wenger staying on as manager is believed to not be enough to sway the South American to stay, with the player’s heart set on Spain.
