It was all going so well for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern who watched their side finally splash the cash on big name player in Granit Xhaka.
Well, that was until those eagle eyed punters were met with reports emanating out of Spain that Barcelona were lining up a move for one of the club’s star players.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish titans are pressing ahead with a deal that would see them bring Hector Bellerin back to the club, in order to replace Dani Alves.
The latter has been linked with a shock move to Juventus this summer in a deal that would end his illustrious spell with the Blaugrana.
In many ways, the 21-year old Spaniard represents the natural heir to the Brazilian’s crown at the Camp Nou, a rampant full-back with bags of attacking enterprise.
His departure would rock the North London giants after he emerged a vital player following a meteoric rise when replacing Mathieu Debuchy last season.
The speedster is a life-long fan of the club, having progressed through their infamous La Masia academy before being spirited away to England back in 2011.
There indeed has been some precedent in a deal between the two parties before, with the La Liga champions luring Cesc Fabregas back to his childhood home after becoming a bonafide star with the Gunners.
Just how big a blow would this be for Arsenal? Do they have any hope at all of keeping their star if Barca really ramp up attempts?
