The Gunners are desperate for a new central defender with Gabriel Paulista having joined Per Mertersacker on the long term injury list ahead of the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
Wenger’s top target has been the Valencia man and are reportedly ready to table a £30m bid to bring the World Cup winner to The Emirates.
Having originally held firm against advances from North London, the Spanish outfit are seemingly preparing for life without the German international, having been linked with a move for Man City’s Eliaquim Mangala.
