Arsenal need to strengthen their attacking lines this summer and a move for a top-class striker is necessary, with a host of big names linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Fresh faces continue to be thrown up as potential recruits for the Gunners this summer, including Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kylian Mbappe and Andrea Belotti, but Karim Benzema is being overlooked.
That’s despite this summer potentially being Arsenal’s best chance to land the French striker, as Real Madrid are eyeing attacking recruits of their own and they could cut ties with the 29-year-old former Lyon forward at the end of the season.
Robert Lewandowski and Mbappe are amongst two of the big names being linked with Real Madrid this summer, as well as Chelsea ace Eden Hazard – and the Belgian’s arrival could push Cristiano Ronaldo into a central striker role.
Any deal of that sort would leave Benzema battling for first-team football at the Santiago Bernabeu and he may feel it’s time for a new challenge, especially if he lifts his third Champions League title with Los Blancos next month.
Our landlord believes that Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Benzema and he’d be a significant improvement to their attacking lines, and one that could terrorise Premier League defences throughout the course of the season.
A departure for Alexis Sanchez looks inevitable, which would see Arsenal’s summer transfer kitty raise significantly, and moving for Benzema would appease the upset fans that would be distraught to see Chilean ace Alexis leave the Emirates Stadium.
