Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side is going to be active in the summer transfer window as there is a real feeling that they desperately need to be.
The men from the Emirates have really struggled this season, of course, and many of the players have been in the line of fire when it’s come down to criticism this year, as you might expect.
The transfer window, then, needs to see change and whilst the club is being linked with a plethora of names, one star seems to be getting forgotten – Koke of Atletico Madrid.
Atleti, of course, have not had their best season of late under Diego Simeone but they are still a European force and, at the heart of that, is the diminutive Spanish midfielder who helps things tick-over.
That, then, is the crux of this piece as it doesn’t take much to realise that Arsenal’s season, once again, fell apart when chief metronome Santi Cazorla found himself crocked by injury.
A superb player, the former Villarreal man is coming to the end of his career and this year has served as another reminder that the men from the Emirates do not have an heir for him.
It’s a familiar sense of unpreparedness with the Gunners, then, but that is something that can be easily fixed and with Atletico perhaps coming to the end of their cycle, now could be the perfect time for Koke to join the beginning of Arsenal’s new one.
