The recent win over rivals Manchester United has once again lit the fires of optimism amongst the Arsenal fans celebrating in the Transfer Tavern.
While the Gunners still face a battle to finish in the top four, they at least showed they are capable of big results after a poor season and a strong end to the campaign could just save Arsene Wenger.
Though whether or not he’s still up for job is a debate for another day, though reports from the Daily Telegraph have sparked a positive reaction from our north London locals.
They claim the Emirates giants could rekindle their interest in Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez this summer. The Algerian, who proved so impressive during the Foxes’ title win last season, is understood to want to leave the East Midlands and reportedly expects the club to honour their agreement in letting him leave.
Arsenal are said to be on the lookout for a wide player and Mahrez would certainly fit the bill. The report also suggests London rivals Chelsea and Spurs may retain an interest in the player, who is said to be valued at around £30m.
As you can imagine, the Arsenal fans in the bar are delighted about these links, though just hope he’s not a direct replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
