‘Great news’ – Arsenal fans on Twitter delighted with good news confirmed

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased to hear the news surrounding their club’s non-nonsense Egyptian midfielder, Mohamed Elneny. The 25-year-old who was sent off on Sunday has had his red card overturned after an Independent Regulatory Committee accepted that he was wrongly dismissed for violent conduct. Arsenal tweeted the news with a link to the Arsenal website and will be pleased as they can prepare for their Premier League trip to Newcastle with Elneny in the picture.

Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Southampton was a great spectacle for a neutral. Southampton took the lead through Shane Long before Arsenal took control through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Danny Welbeck before the break. The Saints came out the better side after the break and notched a deserved equaliser through Charlie Austin, then as the game entered its last ten minutes, Welbeck scored his second and Arsenal’s third to seal the game. Tempers flared at the end though as Jack Stephens and Mohamed Elneny were both shown red cards for violent conduct.

A number of Arsenal fans watching on believed that Elneny’s dismissal was harsh after he was involved in an incident with Southampton’s Portuguese defender, Cedric Soares. Whilst Elneny has got away with only missing a couple of minutes football at the end of the entertaining clash, Stephens is unlikely to have his ban rescinded. The 24-year-old lost his cool after being fouled by Jack Wilshere and threw his namesake to the ground in frustration, earning him a deserved red card.
